Hawley Hussey & Bill Brovold
December 8-30, 2016
Reception Friday December 9th, 2016, 6-9pm
New work by Hawley Hussey and Bill Brovold who first met 25 years ago when their work was hung by chance side by side at Fort Mason in a show curated by Alligator Gallery. Bill Brovold's peep hole boxes create worlds unexpected, magical and perhaps a bit alarming. Brovold's new work includes hand built, interactive instruments made from burls and found wood from their land in the Hudson River Valley. Hussey's new large scale watercolors intersect someplace between botanical study and loving portrait of known and unknown specimens from the land she and Brovold purchased in 2012. The work is dedicated to the gardener she never met who worked their land for 40 years.
